Collaborating for Global Health: How Partners for World Health is Making an Impact

PWH is a nonprofit organization that focuses on improving global health by providing medical supplies and equipment to developing countries. The organization partners with hospitals, medical centers, and other healthcare facilities to collect unused and surplus medical supplies and equipment, which are then shipped to communities in need. Since its inception in 2007, PWH has distributed over 1 million pounds of medical supplies and equipment to over 40 countries.

The center, which serves a community of over 26,000 people, was desperately needed, as the nearest hospital was over 50 miles away. PWH provided the medical equipment and supplies, while the Jim Ovia Foundation provided funding and management support. The result is a healthcare center that has been able to improve the health and wellbeing of thousands of people in the Agbor community.

In addition to its work in providing medical supplies and equipment, PWH has also been actively involved in responding to global health crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic. In early 2020, PWH launched a global response effort, partnering with organizations around the world to provide critical medical supplies, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare facilities and workers in need. To date, PWH has shipped over 750,000 pieces of PPE to hospitals and medical centers in over 70 countries, helping to protect healthcare workers on the frontlines of the pandemic.
