Working at a desk can be really exhausting and tiring. Sitting on a chair for hours can take a toll on your physical and mental health. This is where simple exercises come in handy. Here are some exercises that you can do to make your workday better:
1. Seated leg raises
Sit on your chair with your back straight. Raise one leg as high as possible and hold it for a few seconds. Lower it back down and repeat on the other side. Do 10 repetitions for each leg. This exercise helps to improve blood circulation to the legs.
2. Shoulder shrugs
Sit with your back straight and relax your shoulders. Slowly lift your shoulders up towards your ears and hold for a few seconds before relaxing them back down. Repeat at least 10 times. This exercise helps to relieve tension in your shoulder and neck.
3. Neck stretch
Sit with your back straight and slowly tilt your neck to one side, bringing your ear to your shoulder. Hold for a few seconds before tilting to the other side. Do 10 repetitions on each side. This exercise helps to relieve tension in your neck and shoulders.
4. Chair dips
Sit on the edge of your chair and place your hands beside your hips, fingers facing forward. Push your body up and then slowly lower it back down. Do 10 repetitions. This exercise helps to strengthen your triceps and improve upper body strength.
5. Calf raises
Sit on your chair with your feet flat on the ground. Raise your heels off the floor and hold for a few seconds before lowering them back down. Repeat for at least 10 times. This exercise helps to strengthen your calf muscles.
6. Eye exercises
Looking at a screen all day can put a lot of strain on your eyes. Take a break and look away from the screen every 20 minutes or so. Also, try to do some eye exercises such as focusing on a distant object for 10 seconds and then focusing on something close. Repeat for a few times.
Incorporating these exercises into your workday can greatly benefit your physical and mental health. Not only do they relieve tension and improve blood circulation, but they also help to increase your energy and productivity. So, take a break and try these exercises for a better workday!
