Growing up, I had always thought that I knew everything there was to know about the world. I was confident in my knowledge and seldom questioned anything that was not within my purview. However, as I grew older, things started to change, and I started to discover aspects of life that were not to my knowledge. This journey of discovery has shaped me into the person I am today.
One of the first things that I discovered was the harsh reality of inequality across the globe. It startled me to see that so many people were living in poverty, while others had more wealth than they could ever need. Before this discovery, I was ignorant of the vast disparities that exist in different parts of the world. I started to read up and educate myself on the issue, and it changed me forever.
Another turning point in my path of discovery was when I started to learn about the environment and how human activities were affecting it. I was unaware of the impact that my actions had on the planet and how they could affect future generations. As I learned more about environmental issues, I made some lifestyle changes to reduce my carbon footprint. I pledged to carry this responsibility of sustainability within me throughout my life.
