Why I Quit the 75 Hard Diet: My Experience and Thoughts

When I first heard about the 75 Hard Diet, I was intrigued. The idea of a strict diet and fitness routine for 75 days straight sounded like a challenge I was ready to take on. And I did. But after just a few weeks, I knew it wasn’t sustainable for me. Here’s why.

What is the 75 Hard Diet?

The 75 Hard Diet was created by entrepreneur Andy Frisella as a way to push people to their limits. The rules are simple: follow a strict diet, drink a gallon of water a day, exercise twice a day (one session must be outdoors), take a progress photo every day, and read 10 pages of non-fiction. There’s no room for cheating, and if you miss even one component, you have to start over.

Why I Quit

At first, I was all in. I loved having a strict routine and feeling in control of my health. But as time went on, the pressure began to mount. Eating the same foods every day became monotonous, and finding time for two workouts a day became more and more difficult. I found myself becoming anxious about missing a workout or not drinking enough water, and the pressure to maintain the progress photos became overwhelming.

What I Learned

While the 75 Hard Diet didn’t work for me, I did learn a lot from the experience. I realized that I need variety in my diet and workout routine to stay motivated. I also learned the importance of balance and self-compassion. Restrictive diets and rigid workout schedules may work for some people, but they weren’t sustainable for me.

Conclusion

In the end, the 75 Hard Diet was a valuable learning experience. While it’s important to challenge ourselves and push our limits, it’s equally important to listen to our bodies and find a routine that works for us. For me, that means incorporating a variety of foods and workouts into my daily life and allowing room for flexibility and self-care.
